State Farm Insurance Internship/Mentorship Opportunities
October 17, 2012
The University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College will welcome a regional business agent to campus on Wednesday, Oct. 24 to meet with students about an exciting internship and business opportunity.
Lesley Postle, an agency recruiter for State Farm Insurance will be on campus on Oct. 24 to take part in a television program/podcast during the afternoon. The program is the weekly show, “Business Talk,” which is broadcast on the cable television systems in Rio Grande and Jackson at 4 p.m. each Wednesday. In addition, podcasts and videos of the program are also posted online. The program is produced each week by students, faculty and staff from the Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) in Entrepreneurship program at Rio Grande.
On the morning of her visit to campus, Postle will be available to meet with students to discuss work opportunities with State Farm Insurance.
The company has an internship/mentorship program and is looking for qualified undergraduate or graduate students who are interested in applying for the program.
The individual who is chosen for the program will have the opportunity, after a certain period of time, to take over an already established insurance office that has clients in place. In addition, there will be up to five agency mentors in the region who will assist the individual who is chosen with the training program and different work activities.
This could be a very good opportunity for a Rio Grande student, and all interested students are asked to call Pat Dengel at 740-708-7810 to set up a time to speak with Postle. Currently, Postle is planning to begin meeting with students at 10 a.m. in room 229 in Bob Evans Farms Hall.
Dengel, who is a business development specialist for the Ohio State University South Centers, works closely with the MBA program at Rio Grande. He also collaborates on the Business Talk program with Rio Grande faculty, staff and students.
For additional information on the internship/mentorship opportunity, as well as information on the Business Talk show or on the MBA program and its unique focus on entrepreneurship, call Dengel or Jason Winters at 1-800-282-7201.
