The Madog Center for Welsh Studies, along with the Fine Arts, English and Music departments at the University of Rio Grande, is working with the Bob Evans Farm, Inc. to plan Welsh Heritage Days on May 17 & 18, 2014 at the Bob Evans Farms.
The festival is modeled after the original Welsh Heritage Days from the 1970's and will celebrate Welsh culture and heritage and focus on the performing arts, with competitions centered on an Eisteddfod (see "What is an Eisteddfod?" tab).
It will also honor the Welsh roots of company founder, the late Bob Evans.
Our aim is to create the atmosphere of a Welsh Eisteddfod maes, or field, with multiple tents for performances, exhibitions, demonstrations, crafters, food and activities. The weekend will include a Saturday evening concert featuring traditional folk music by Moch Pryderi and a Gymanfa service with Welshman Bryan Jones on Sunday afternoon interspersed with a closing concert showcasing winners in each category.
We are currently seeking craft vendors and more information on the Eisteddfod competitions will be forthcoming.
