OhioLINK Full Text

While it is true that not all articles are available in full text, many full text articles from OhioLINK databases can be downloaded directly to the desktop. Some articles are available only in "Portable Document Format" (PDF) and, as such, requires that the browser you are using (e.g.., Explorer or Navigator) has the Adobe Acrobat Reader plug-in installed. PDF's provide you with a page image of the article, exactly as it appeared in the printed journal. Generally, PDF's will be much larger files and therefore require more time to download. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, you can download the current version for free from Adobe.

Currently, Davis Library subsidizes the cost of the toner and paper used in its computer printers. The Library can ill-afford abuse of this privilege. Please use common sense and courtesy when printing. Do not capriciously print articles or citations. Remember that you can store and then download or e-mail your citations AND you can also save files to your network or local drive. Doing so will allow you to retrieve your article later and view them at your convenience at any time; just as though you had printed a copy.

Even if an article is not available in full text from OhioLINK, you may still be able to retrieve these articles provided Davis Library owns them. Click on "Check Availability" and then select Rio Grande Community College to display what years are available to you in Davis Library, as well as whether the periodical is in paper or microform. If "Rio Grande Community College" does not appear on the list of institutions for a particular title, this generally indicates that Davis Library does not hold that periodical title in its collection. You can also check in Davis Library's Printout of Periodicals, copies of which are located throughout the Library. Those articles which are neither available in full-text through OhioLINK or from Davis Library's own collection, can still be ordered through Davis Library's traditional interlibrary loan service (ILL).

For questions regarding OhioLINK's full text capabilities, contact either Tim Snow, Reference Librarian (740-245-7344), Main Floor, Room 108 or Amy Wilson, Reference Outreach Specialist (740-245-7382), Main Floor, Room 107. For questions regarding Davis Library's traditional interlibrary loan service, contact Amy Miller, Periodicals/Government Documents Associate, 740-245-7463, Main Floor, Room 117.
