BA-Music Comprehensive

The Comprehensive Music program is designed primarily for students who are interested in music performance, composition, private studio teaching, graduate school, and other areas in which an extensive music background would be an asset or necessity.

In addition to the student's general education, their program will focus on a comprehensive slate of music classes to give them thorough training as musicians. These classes will include:

  • Music Theory I-IV
  • Aural Training I-IV
  • Computers in Music
  • Conducting
  • Form & Analysis
  • Music History I-II
  • Instrumental Arranging

Students will select a major instrument, on which they will perform a Senior Recital at the end of their studies, and will receive a solid grounding in piano technique. The student will participate in the Music Department's performing ensembles. They will also establish an ePortfolio website to showcase their accomplishments while they are at Rio.
