Borrowing & Renewing Library Materials

  • Do you need a Library card?

For the most part, the answer is "YES." Your University student I.D. card acts as your library card. Distance Learners are encouraged to come to campus (if possible) to get their student I.D. card. With this card, you are able to not only check out items in person from the Davis Library, but from other OhioLINK Member Libraries as well, which is particularly nice if their locations are more convenient for you. (See Locating Local Library Resources section under Other Useful Information, Resources & Links.) If you are not able to visit campus to obtain a student I.D. card, at least know what your student I.D. number is so you may access certain restricted OhioLINK Services.

  • Can you renew items online?

"YES!" By using the VIEW YOUR OWN LIBRARY RECORD RioCat, you may renew the items you have borrowed online.  You may also contact Deborah Thompson, Circulation Associate at 1-800-282-7201 extension 7005 or 7398 to renew your library materials.

(Please Note: Items borrowed through Traditional Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Services will not appear on your online record. Pay special attention the due dates stamped on all ILL items borrowed. Overdue fines are $1.00 per day. While some ILL materials may be renewed, others may not. Any questions or concerns about ILL services should be directed the ILL Coordinator, at 1-800-282-7201 extension 7321.)

  • What is the loan period for items borrowed?

Circulation policies for library materials vary depending on the types of items borrowed. (See our site's Circulation section for more information.)
