The Respiratory Care Therapy program (RCP) is designed to provide an educational program that will prepare students to practice as qualified Respiratory Care Practitioners and to serve the community healthcare agencies by graduating competent and experienced Respiratory Care Practitioners. The program will build a solid foundation from which graduates can evolve with the changing respiratory therapy environment to grow into well-respected healthcare professionals.
The RCP program is offered in partnership with the University of Rio Grande/Rio Grande Community College and Buckey Hills Career Center. Once a student is accepted into the RCP program, all RCP classes are taken at Buckeye Hills Career Center. This partnership has been established as a means to educate and train individuals in the science of Respiratory Care.
Respiratory Therapy is a health-care discipline that specializes in the production of optimal cardiopulmonary function and health. Respiratory therapists apply scientific principles to prevent, identify, and treat acute, chronic, and emergency dysfunctions of the cardiopulmonary systems. Respiratory therapists use the latest in advanced technology and biomedical equipment to effectively assess, educate, and treat patients.
The Respiratory Care Therapy program has several requirements and can be very competitive. Please view the Respiratory Care Therapy FACT Sheet for a brief overview of the program and its requirements; along with a suggested curriculum. If you have met all requirements and are interested in applying to the RCP program, please print and submit a RCP application (accepted January 1 - April 1.)
The Respiratory Therapy Program is approved by the Ohio Board of Regents and is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), 1248 Harwood Road, Bedford, TX 76021, 1-817-283-2835, http://www.coarc.com/.
