Radiologic Technology

The Radiologic Technology (RAD) program is designed to prepare students to be competent entry-level radiographers as they enter the profession.  The program will build a solid foundation from which graduates can evolve with the changing radiologic environment to grow into well-respected professionals.

The RAD program curriculum is comprised of courses in biology, sciences, and mathematics to prepare students to enter the workforce as entry-level radiographers (also called radiologic technologists).  Upon graduation from the program, the graduates will receive an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree in Radiologic Technology and will be eligible to apply for the National Certification Examination in Radiology through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Radiographers are individuals who are specifically trained in delivering ionizing radiation.  The radiographer is responsible for administering contrast agents for better imaging, evaluating radiographs, and applying radiation safety standards at all time.  Radiographers also provide patient education and support and must possess a high level of "people skills."  Radiographers can be employed by hospitals, clinics, mobile imaging units, urgent care centers, and diagnostic imaging centers.
